Difference between CBD oil, hemp oil and cannabis oil

If you are looking for information about hemp / cannabis oils, you have probably already come across the terms CBD oil, hemp oil or cannabis oil.

So that you can understand the difference between the different oils, here there is a description and the differences briefly.

What is CBD oil?

Cannabidiol (also called CBD) is one of over 130 active cannabinoids identified. All of these are found in the cannabis plant. Many people associate hemp with the intoxicating effects of THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) and the illegal use of drugs.

The active ingredient CBD exists after THC as the second most active ingredient in the hemp plant. CBD has no psychoactive effects but many other benefits. On the contrary, CBD can even mitigate the effects of THC.

It is produced by the hemp flowers and leaves. The CBD is activated using several extraction processes. In countries like Germany, the THC share of CBD products may not exceed 0.2% in order to be allowed to sell it.

Various carrier oils such as coconut, olive and hemp oil are often used to mix the CDB. Hemp oil is currently the most used carrier oil.

How does CBD work?

Unlike THC, CBD has no psychoactive effects and therefore does not cause “intoxication”. But it still offers a relaxing effect and has many other aspects that are good for the body. Therefore, a lot of studies are carried out with cannabidiol to discover further properties. Nowadays, CBD is used for a wide variety of diseases.

There are different types of hemp varieties. The two best known types are Cannabis Sativa and Cannabis Indica. Another type is Cannabis Ruderalis.

All three types contain different amounts of CBD and THC and are partly bred for different purposes. By crossing the different species, over 1000 different species with different levels of THC and CBD have been obtained today. This is becoming increasingly interesting for many medical purposes.

Cannabis Indica has a low THC content compared to Cannabis Sativa, but a higher CBD content.

Because of its size and structure, Cannabis Sativa is also grown as commercial hemp. This can then only demonstrate a maximum content of 0.2% THC. Many products such as clothing, hemp flour or the extraction of hemp seeds for hemp oil are produced from it.

What is hemp oil?

Hemp oil, on the other hand, is obtained from the seeds of commercial hemp and contains neither THC nor CBD. The best quality is achieved by cold pressing the seeds.

Depending on the production, the hemp oil can then have a greenish or brownish color and it has a nutty and slightly bitter taste. It is known above all for the many nutrients and the high proportion of essential fatty acids such as Omega-3 and Omega-6.

Since our body cannot produce these fatty acids itself, hemp oil is considered to be an extremely high-quality cooking oil. However, you should not use it for frying, since the fatty acids decompose at a temperature of 165 ºC.

What is cannabis oil?

Cannabis oil, also called hashish oil or THC oil, is an extract that is obtained from the flowers and leaves of the hemp plant. Potent plants with a high THC content and all other cannabidiols are used for production.

So you will find the entire spectrum of content of the hemp plant in cannabis oil. It is one of the strongest cannabis products and is not allowed by law due to its psychoactive effects of THC.

In summary, hemp oil is a very high quality and popular cooking oil with important nutrients. As a result, it plays a major role in a healthy and conscious diet.

In contrast, the CBD oil is considered a nutritional supplement. It is particularly interesting because of its medicinal potential and the very low THC content and is still being researched.

The cannabis oil contains the entire spectrum of cannabinoids. Thus, the area of application is larger and has established itself as an effective drug in the pharmaceutical industry due to the THC content and its effects.

However, it also brings with it all possible side effects that can arise from the THC. That is why it is strictly controlled because of the narcotics effects in contrast to hemp or CBD oil on the market.
